The third event in the SOC MapRun League takes us into Southampton. The League consists of weekly events in April and May 2021. More info on the League and the events here. The event will be available in the MapRun app from Saturday 17/04/21. For your run to count in the League, you must submit your results by the end of Sunday 25/04/21. After that, you can still have a go at the course but it won't count for the League. 

This MapRun event will also be run as an informal social on Thurs 22nd April. Start anytime from 6-7pm and there should be other SOC members around. See the social page for more info. You can do the course more than once but your first go counts. Hopefully see some of you there. Rob 

UK > Southampton > League > 03 - Lordswood Score

Location: Start/finish is on Coxford Road. Turn onto Coxford Road by the traffic lights by the small Tescos. Take the second right and head towards the end of the road. Format: 45-minute score. Points are 10, 20, or 30 per control: 10 points for 1 - 10, 20 points for 11 - 17 & 20 (there is no 18 or 19), and 30 points for controls 21 - 24. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof. 

MapRun App: Use MapRunF or, preferably, the new MapRun6 app. Do not use the original MapRun app as it does not understand the score format. When navigating to the event, select "UK", then "Southampton" (not "Hampshire"), and then "League". See the MapRun website for guidance on configuring your phone.

Map: Two map formats are available, the Stick map and the Pseud-O map. Note that the finish is not marked on the map but is in the same location as the start.

Terrain: A mixture of urban and woodland. The majority of the course is within the Lordswood estate and consists of a lot of intricate alleyways and open areas. The rest of the course is in the surrounding Lordswood and Greenways which have small paths and woodland. 

Safety: There are lots of road crossings. Under 16's should be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed (whether marked on the map or not). There is a busy dual carriageway on the south of the map, you should not need to run on it. 

Update 17/04/2021:

• I noticed that the PseudO map and the map in the App didn't have the minor map updates on. I have uploaded a new version below (most notably a diagonal path North of 9 and of the 3 paths above 11 you can get through the outer two into the estate). It may be too late to update the map in the App.
• The start and finish are at the same location (but only the start triangle is on the map).
