Chandler's Ford
The 6th event in the 2022 Spring/Summer SOC MapRun League.
The event will be available in the app from Friday 3 June 2022. For your run to count in the League, you must submit your results by the end of Thursday 16 June 2022. After that, you can still have a go at the course but it won't count for the League. To find the event in the MapRun app, use the following navigation:

Location: Starting and finishing in the centre of Chandler's Ford SO53 2DQ: What3Words: hobby.runs.owners. The Waitrose car park is nearby and is free for up to 2 hours for car drivers and there are bike racks available. The start is on the Bluestar 1 route between Winchester and Southampton. Chandler's Ford station is approximately 1 km away.
Format: 45 minutes, 30 controls. Points are 10, 20, or 30 per control: 10 points for 1 - 10, 20 points for 11 to 20, and 30 points for 21 to 30, for a maximum of 600 points. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.
MapRun app: Use the new MapRun6 app. Do not use the original MapRun app as it does not understand the score format. Map: The map is a 1:7500 OpenOrienteeringMap. There are both βstickβ and βpseudoβ maps available and the PDFs can be downloaded below. It may be beneficial to take both maps. NOTE: maps updated on 8 June 2022.
Terrain: The course is around the residential areas and primarily on paths. There are some open and wooded areas. Some areas of vegetation have grown since the mapping and there are a couple of unmarked fences.
Safety: There are lots of road crossings. Under 16's should be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed whether marked on the map or not β this also includes squeezing through holes in fences!
