SOC Championship

By Peter Stewart , 8 March, 2011

We now have a version of the SOC Championship calculated on a rolling monthly basis, which is published in the 'members-only' area of the web-site here.

The SOC Championship is a league based on events in the Southampton area.  Each persons score is based on the best three events from the nine events nearest to the centre of Southampton.  The score for each event is based on the simple formula 1000 x Your Time / Winners Time.

Historically the championship has been calculated for the end of the year and occasionally at other times.  We are now proposing to publish the championship monthly, calculated on a rolling year basis.  It is published in the members only are of the web site, because it includes the juniors.  In fact all of the information in the league is published on the BOF web site (from where the data is gathered).

As you will have seen in the last issue of Sock, you can run any course.  Everyone can see on the championship table which course you have run on.

So, if we are interested, how can we improve our ranking?  My suggestions would be:

1.       Try to get to at least 3 events

2.       Navigate accurately to reduce mistakes

3.       Run faster!

The committee would be interested to hear what you think of this format.
