This training will take place at Longmoor on the 20th November 2010, and will be run by Katy Stubbs. It will last approx. 4hrs.

This is the first module to be finished of the revamped BOF training for all types of event officials. It is designed to simplify the system so that elements don’t get repeated on planners and organisers and controllers courses. So it is aimed at all 3. Currently compulsory for controllers, and it may go that way for organisers and planners, in the future.

The driving force behind this is coming from the insurers, who provide our liability insurance (the one that covers officials and clubs against claims made by competitors or landowners etc).

Katy states that we (BO) may be able to accredit those current officials who have demonstrated that they have the relevant experience already.  My recommendation is that all SOC controllers, organisers and planners go on this course, then we are future proofed with the BOF insurers.

As far as cost is concerned, there will be no charge for the course or facilities to the region or club/attendees, costs will be covered from central funds for this particular session. Subsequent courses (if needed) will have to be covered by SCOA funds or be self-supporting. So this is a great opportunity, to get this done. Once completed it does not have to be repeated (unlike first aid training).
