Helpers needed for QECP event on 18th March 2012

 

If you are available to assist in any way at our level C, District / SCOA League event please could you contact Jes Dickin who is now looking to resource all the usual tasks. If you have any particular preferences please let him know and every effort will be made to accommodate them. We are in particular need of first aiders and somebody (urgently) to take on the string course if a suitable area can be found. The usual payment terms (half price entry etc) will apply! Those few who have already kindly offered on Saturday at Ocknell and previously please ignore this request.

Courses: Yellow (1.8km), Orange (2.9km) and Light Green (4.6km).

Terrain: The area is a mixture of open and semi-open park land, buildings, car parks, and pockets of woodland. Please do not attempt to enter any of the buildings other than the clubhouse. It is recommended that competitors on the Light Green wear full leg cover or they risk being scratched/stung in the woodland.

Parking: Parking will be at the IBM Hursley Clubhouse (SO21 2JN/SU421250) and will be signed from both the Southampton and Winchester entrances to the site off the A3090. Please only use the perimeter road on site as competitors will be crossing the road that runs North-South across the site.

Public transport: The 66 is an hourly bus service between Winchester (including the station) and Romsey that stops in Hursley. It's then a short walk up past the church on to the IBM site.

Facilities:  Toilets and showers are available for use in the clubhouse. Please don't wear muddy shoes/spikes inside.

BBQ: We will aim to have the BBQ lit around midday. Please bring your own food and, if you have them, tongs etc. Alcohol cannot be brought on to site but the adjacent clubhouse will be serving food and drink. 

Note: this event is on 21st July as stated here (not 28th July as listed in the series posters and leaflets).

The event will include the prize giving for this year's Summer Series.

The event will be signposted from the B3037 between Eastleigh and Fair Oak. Stoke Park Woods is a great area for orienteering with lots of contour features, a variety of terrain, mainly runnable even at this time of year and will present a surprise if you have never orienteered here before.
